Welcome to the ‘emotionally laden work in museums’ website. This is a space to capture and share our thoughts, conversations and resources on this important topic. A key element of our work together is the ‘New futures of care: Investigating emotionally laden work in museums’ project graciously funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE). The project will run from February 2024 to January 2025 and will focus on hosting two workshops for invited researchers, museum and heritage professionals and policy makers.

Our aim is to open-up conversations on this topic to create a better understanding of the emotions used and experienced in museum work and ultimately help support worker-wellbeing.

You will find more information about the project here. Findings will be shared through this website, as well as in academic and sector publications.

We will update and expand this website as the project develops and warmly invite you to join our conversation!
